Chris Thom has been recognised for his professional service to the architectural community in his appointment as Fellow of Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects.
Renowned for his outstanding work in the health sector, Chow:Hill Principal and Registered Architect, Chris Thom’s professional service to the architectural community has been recognised in his appointment as Fellow of Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects.
Chris has been a member of the New Zealand Health Design Council (NZHDC) for over 10 years and delivered numerous conference and seminar presentations on health design.
Chris’ PhD in Structural Engineering has brought a unique perspective to his designs of both international hospital projects as well as healthcare facilities in New Zealand. These projects include Christchurch Hospital Waipapa, Mason Clinic E Tū Tanekaha, Wellington Regional Hospital Oncology, Nelson Dialysis Unit and Bay of Islands Hospital.
One of the things that sets Chris apart is his approach to developing young professionals. He actively makes the time to educate, lead,and support young members of the team to go from fresh graduates into professionals capable of leading complex projects. A core member of Chow:Hill’s Environmental Sustainability Committee and contributor to the Registration Study Group, Chris is also deeply committed to the education of the next generation of architects through his active participation in the Accreditation Board Reviews of Australasian Schools of Architecture.
